Welcome to the Arundel, Maine Fire - Rescue website!
The Arundel Fire - Rescue squad is made up of both volunteers and per-diem professionals. The station on the Limerick Road is supported 24 x 7 with both volunteers and professionals. If the station happens to be empty when a resident visits it's because we're responding to a call or training.
Volunteers:
- You do not have to be a resident of Arundel to be a volunteer firefighter but must live no more than 10 miles from the Limerick Road fire station.
- To become a volunteer firefighter you must undergo a 6 month probationary period. Once the 6 months is complete the Fire - resuce membership conducts a vote before awarding volunteer firefighter status.
- Volunteers are paid for time spent being trained and responding to calls.
Per-Diem Professionals:
- Must be licensed EMTs or fire fighters.
- Our typical per-diem professional is employed by neighboring towns and cities fire departments with several years of experience.
